Welcome parents and students to a brand new year. I am excited for the many new things we are going to learn and do together
this year. As I have talked with your children's previous teachers, I have found that they have excelled in a great number
of areas. One area that I would like to place particular emphasis on is reading. I want your children to love reading and
be able to enjoy it by exploring many different genres.
We have lots of exciting projects and field trips in store for this year, so come ready to learn and explore!
Events and Announcements
September
On September 27, we will be taking a trip to the aquarium. Please make sure your child's permission slip is signed and read
to go by September 23. On the day of the field trip, your child needs to bring a light snack for the morning, and a sack
lunch for the afternoon. I am excited for this upcoming trip and I know your child will enjoy it too!

Our Classroom News

Our class received a fish this week, thanks to the Andersen family. The students have been quite interested in observing
the fish and learning about life in the water. We have added "Fish Care" to the jobs list and all the of the students
have been extremely willing to take on this responsibility. If any of the children would like to bring in information regarding
fish, please feel free to send it with them to school.

Student of the Week

Ayden Nichols is our student of the week. When Ayden is not at school, he enjoys playing soccer, basketball, and video games.
He is the big brother to twin sisters, who absolutely adore him. Ayden's favorite subjects in school are math, science,
and of course, recess. Ayden is a wonderful helper to his family, and to our class.
Next week's student of the week: Stacia Brown
